Remember when a rattle-can paint job passed for customizing? Harley-Davidson does, and to make sure you do, too, H-D is offering to paint your Sportster tank in one of six metalflake colors—black, gold, violet rose, midnight navy, red, or root beer. The deal is available only for 2008-and-later Sportster Forty-Eight, Nightster, and Iron 883 models, and the $399.95 price tag is for paint only, either on a new tank or your current one; there’s a $99.95 stripping and priming charge for already-painted tanks. Umm...$500 to paint an itty-bitty Sportster tank? Plus shipping too? Even metal flake can't be that hard to apply. At that price point rattle cans do have a certain appeal plus they come in so many cool colors. Maybe you could sponsor a contest for the best rattle can painted tank? The grand prize could be a case of Krylon's best! Or maybe a ride around Boise in a glass-bottomed bus?
